How to Make Ketchup?

The main ingredient you should use for the best ketchup is tomatoes. All the ingredients you need to use are as follows:

  • 5 kilos of tomatoes,
  • 2 medium-size onions,
  • 3 tbsp. olive oil,
  • 2 cloves of garlic,
  • 1 glass of grape vinegar,
  • 5 tbsp. of grape molasses,
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon,
  • Salt and pepper.

First, wash the tomatoes thoroughly and then chop them into large pieces without peeling their skin. Chop the onion finely. Sauté with 3 tbsp. olive oil for about 10 minutes, until caramelized. Add the tomatoes you have just cut into large pieces to the pan. Then add 1 tsp. black pepper and 1 tsp. of salt. Add the garlic, which you have roughly cut into 4-5 pieces. Cook the prepared mixture until the tomato juice is released, that is, until the flavors of the ingredients are combined. Add 1 glass of vinegar and 5 tbsp. grape molasses. Now boil the mixture for about 40 minutes by lowering the heat. Once thoroughly boiled, make the mixture even more liquid with the help of a blender. And the final step! Filter the mixture after the blender. Here's your ketchup! Bon appétit.

You can reduce or increase the amount of ingredients in the recipe proportionally according to your own needs and pleasure. If you are not in tomato season or you cannot find tomatoes, you can also make ketchup from tomato paste. To do this, you need to lightly dilute the tomato paste and add it to the mixture. You can also make ketchup from sun-dried tomatoes by bringing them to the consistency to be used as normal tomatoes.
